The World Summit in Sweden 2010 has attracted more than 1100 delegates from 70 countries. The Media Industry corporations from everywhere are here, distributors and producers,
the formeost researchers and other high relevance media professionals are also attending the Summit.

A TOOL FOR EVERY TASK: SOCIAL MEDIA AND NETWORKING
The founding director of the organization Media Snackers believes that when using media “you have to make a mess to find how you can go forward.”
It is this theory that dictates how people worldwide use social media and social networking.
DK told Summit delegates that social media includes a lot more than Facebook; it also includes all communication and connected internet applications. DK showed a huge range of these programs in this very interesting session including: bubbl.us, Blogger, animoto, issuu, capzles
and ustream. According to DK, these are only a scratch on the surface of social media tools. Read more
YOUTH COUNCIL TO DELIVER RECOMMENDATIONS AND ACTION CAMPAIGN
Global Youth Media Council working on recomendations and action campain.
Once every 3 years young people from around the world get the opportunity to have a true voice for the media.
At this world summit, representation from
India, Colombia, Zambia, Gambia, Nigeria, Malaysia, South Africa, Egypt, Cambodia, Ireland, Slovakia, Nepal, Sweden, UK, Mexico, China, USA, Qatar,
Bolivia are discussing the issues facing young people in this global media world. The Global Youth Media Council is in the process of coming up with a campaign directed
at improving young people’s use of media and the way the media portrays youth. Overall; 6 issues and solutions have been identified and will be accompanied
by real life strategies on an international scale. During the closing ceremony, the council will be presenting their mission to the summit.
PROF. ANDREOLETTI HELD A PLAYFUL SEMINAR
"Video gaming is a serious business, not a waste of time".
Prof. Massimilano Andreoletti held a very playful seminar about video gaming on Wednesday morning. The participants was invited to play a game of
'”Crayon Physics” which involved everyone in the problem solving.
Some of the participants was invited to the stage and should play the game while the other should observe the players. But most got involved in the problem
solving and had difficulties observing the players. Prof Andreoletti used this as an example on how video gaming can be used to educate.
Professor Andreoletti also gave a background
on the video gaming industry and did a comparison with modern rock stars, where many games outperform the artists
in numbers of sold copies. So, for Prof Andreoletti the ”video gaming is a serious business, not a vaste of time”.
INTERVIEW WITH DR CK CHEUNG - A PASSIONATE MEDIA EDUCATOR
Dr CK Cheung is a passionate media educator and World Summit Daily News had the opportunity to sit down and have a short interview with him.
"The future media is very important because we know that technology advances a lot and the impact of media is getting higher and higher, therefor it’s very important for us to have media literacy and media education
right at the very early beginning", Dr. CK Cheung said, and it was the first visit in Sweden for him, coming all the way from Hong Kong. Read the whole interview
PATTI MILLER HAS A HEART OF GOLD
Patti Miller had a amazing session about building healthy habits for life around the world. Sesame Street had just started their 41 years old work and
they are still experimenting.
"We always experiment for the search for the best result", Patti Miller explains. The Sesame team work hard in those countries that needs help within HIV and aids questions. Even malaria is a big problem in some of the countries.
A lot of work is in India, and they have a show since few years back - ”Gali Gali Simpson” it's called. Read more
EXPERTS URGE MEDIA PRODUCERS TO SAY NO TO THE SEXUALISATION OF CHILDREN
On Tuesday morning Julie Gale and Jean Kilbourne held keynote speeches about the negative consequences of the sexualisation of children and
teenagers in the media.
The beginning of the presentation was detailed by Jean Kilbourne from the Wellesley Center for Women, USA.
She discussed the graphic and negative sexual messages embedded in today’s advertising; explaining that all of the aspects of advertising in the media
contribute to youth mental illnesses such as depression, eating disorders and low self-esteem. Read more
Yorka, Bolivia, 13 is not only the youngest participant, she most certainly had the longest travel time to get here.
The first ever Global Youth Council for Media’s youngest member is also the member who has travelled the longest - four plane rides lasting a total of 36
hours. Yorka, the council’s lone Bolivian representative, travelled for 13 hours on bus to attain a visa in Bolivia’s capital. Her father, a miner,
gave up a weeks worth of wages so he could travel with Yorka to the capital.

THE AUSTRALIAN YOUTH COUNCIL IN KARLSTAD

The Australian Youth Council consists of 4 young Australians who have come together to improve the outcomes of young people’s involvement in the media.
Max (age 16, Brisbane), Danica (16, Cairns), Amy (17, Mt. Isa) and Adrian (15, Melbourne), along with their teachers Prue Miles and Michael Dezuanni,
came together in 2009 to participate in workshops regarding the representation of young people in media. Since then they have also participated in
discussions, created short videos and formed specific objectives to share with the Global Youth Council. Read more
